Hi Allison, No leaks but is the fluid level correct and what is the condition? Any add ons, alarm, radio, air filter, etc. There are hundreds of cases about bad transmissions on these vehicles. Honda transmission fluid levels are checked with the engine off and the car on level ground. I need a common sense place to start troubleshooting. It is a used vehicle that we purchased three months ago, so I know nothing about the history.
Question: Even since I've changed my transmission fluid, I've been getting about 5-6 mpg less. If everything looks ok you'll have to have the line pressure checked. Question: I have a 2004 Honda Pilot with 262,000 miles on it. How is it that both components need to be replaced? Changed the cam and crank sensors and it ran normally for a test drive and thought I had it fixed. Question: I just changed the fluid in an automatic transmission.
I have an automatic transmission. Same problem but not covered????. Posted on Apr 19, 2009 will or will not crank? The transmission went out on me and the pickup only had 61000 miles on it. I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty, 3. I stuck it back in. Also I've heard of people installing aftermarket one way valves in the fluid cooler lines to help remedy this problem in these trucks as well with some success.
Five weeks ago, I had a bad skid on ice and hit a steel grate built into the sidewalk. Now, if thats not the problem. Any of these small problems can cause the transmission to suck in air sporadically, at which point it loses oil pressure and feels like it is in neutral. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who informed the contact that the reverse gear retention clip came out and disintegrated. This caused approx 9000 dollars in damage to the tires, wheels and suspension systems. I did drop the pan and found nothing abnormal.
Lucas kept the problem at bay for 6 mos, but with really hot weather the transmission finally gave out. Learning to drive on a standard transmission can end up costing you money if you don't get the hang of it quickly. This truck was garaged in southern California before coming here to Arizona and was well cared for almost to perfection. I couldn't set to cruise though, because there were times the tranny would try to give more power going up a hill and that would cause the clutch to slip and the rpm's rev dangerously high. A diagnosis showed that the failure was caused by a factory defect. Finally, the system error been solved.
It only does this from first gear, and it happens more frequently as the engine warms up. Chrysler transmissions don't react well to improper fluids or additives. Turn it on and bam works and drives for 40 secs to a min. Discard vehicle donate, push off cliff, leave on train tracks, ect step 5. Fuel mileage 14 mpg on and off highway.
I'm having a strange issue with my overdrive and hope my tranny isn't toast. . Is this a transmission problem, and could I have caused it when I hit that grate? Dealer never told me engine was replaced at 17,000. I would also let your insurance company know what's going on and keep them in the loop. I wasn't i was in 4th and so i tried down shifting and same thing. Was not told by the dealership of the recall 722 on the transmission coolant quick connect.
We do a lot of the mechanics on our vehicles ourselves, but I don't know where to start. I have another appointment this weekend for someone else to look at it. Walked home and tried pulling it but before pulling I tried turning it on it worked perfectly fine till I got home won't move at all in any gear. I turned my car of as i coasted to a parking lot and my car continued to make this super loud noise. If your transmission is slipping, start with the basics. Any suggestions will be much approeciated. If you think your clutch is starting to slip, you can try a stall test.
Instead it is more like a loss of power to the trans and feels like it is trying to grab the gear again. But i hate working on my car its super old and annoying to work on. Please choose which areas of our service you consent to our doing so. I was told at time of purchase, this was a normal fuction of the transmission, bought truck Feb. Re-manufactured transmissions also include a much better warranty than rebuilt transmissions; usually compared to 90 days for the rebuilt transmission.
I've checked the levels while the engine was running, and it's about 1cm above the full line. Been to dealership five times. I turn the car off and restart it and then it will again work for about 30 seconds? The first repairman said at first my rear diffrential is broken thats why im having a hard time going in reverse. Hard shifted a few times but generally revs between the shift. Now out of warranty the car fires up and goes into any gear without hesitation for about 30 seconds then makes a noise and all of the gears go out. The quickest way to test a solenoid is using a hand held ohm meter. If you can catch the problem before it ruins the transmission, install an aftermarket transmission cooler to help keep temperatures under control.
