I average anywhere between 23-27 mpg using regular fuel. To repair must replace entire windows assembly. Only had it for the weekend, but I'm spoiled already. By working at it, with no hard acceleration and making use of the regenerative braking, he managed to average 27 mpg over four months. That's probably my only minor complaint.
It was worth the wait. The street that I live on isn't even on the map. This was especially apparent in city driving at moderate to low speeds. The car is very nice. Owners may contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331. The 0-to-60 time dropped to 6. It is fun to drive, versatile and low maintenance with plenty of pick up.
The car is really fun to sneek up on people in the supermarket parking lot, I call it stelth mode. I had several problems starting the car, but the new battery has solved the problem. The car has an incredible amount of power. The brakes and the abrupt engine drag just take a little getting used to. To allow all navigation and Bluetooth functions to be used while in motion, simply press the destination button and then press the bull's-eye in the upper left corner.
We don't recommend driving with your head buried in the navigation screen, but we really like this product because if we had a passenger, he could enter a destination on the fly. We learned that even light rainfall removes most of the thin, latex-like film at highway speeds. It had great power for passing, lots of bins for stowing things, and luggage space that seemed uncompromised by the extra batteries housed under the rear seat for the hybrid system. Lexus offers a Mark Levinson sound system as an option, which probably addresses that issue. I called the Lexus dealer, which told me to hit the key repeatedly with a hammer. The same day I received my vehicle Late Friday evening at closing , it overheated and leaked radiator fluid all over the driveway. We had some issues with the hybrid powertrain.
My vehicle went for a lower than market value price, only to find out that there were alignment issues, as well as its sitting at the dealership for over a year, reason unknown. There were instances when the trunk was too small and a hatch was required for my needs. And I have hauled everything in it, from camping gear for weeklong trips to 2 tons of stone for backyard projects. Many also felt a lurch and heard a clunking sound when the gas engine kicked in when the vehicle was at a complete stop. The included fuel consumption computer tends to be off by a couple of ticks, displaying better than actual mileage. As others have written, it's very quiet, and just about silent when operating on the electric power alone.
The transition from regenerative to hydraulic braking was often disconcerting because a small increase in pressure on the brake pedal might produce a huge increase in deceleration. Took to my mechanic: he discovered a piece of plastic inside radiator from thermometer that caused overheating. I was told by the dealership that if I use premium, I would get better mileage. The first motor is part of the front-wheel-drive system and fires the gas engine and acts as a generator when needed. Then the price of oil skyrocketed. Had to have the dealer glue it back in.
The Lockpick allows full use of the navigation system while driving and unlocks the direct-dialing keypad for use with a Bluetooth phone. The Lexus dealerships that I have gone to have helped me out and have been very helpful and extremely polite. A second dirt-road test proved that Shield is no match for small pebbles. The seats are great, and the important radio controls volume and seek are on the driver's side and are big. We only see a few of these around town and I'm sure you would be the only one in your neighborhood with one if you bought one! The navigation system is comletely outdated. Every time I get in the car, I know I'm in for another pleasurable driving experience.
The seamless transmission with the Hybrid combo surprised me how fast it maneuvers. I have difficulty finding one that is useful for all genres of music. On slight downhill grades, I feel a trailer-hitching effect, perhaps the outcome of the motors and engine trying to figure out which dominates. Last week I had to replace the 12V battery, something I thought they would have identified in their pre-owned certification process. I bought the 2010 update for it and it is about 3 years behind.
Some transistors were poorly soldered to the control board, and…. They have been attentive and helpful. Brake feel remains a problem: 3000 miles into this trip, I'm just beginning to predict pedal travel versus stopping power. This is not normal wear. If this occurs, various warning lamps, including the malfunction indicator lamp, slip indicator light, brake system warning light, and master warning light, will be illuminated on the instrument panel. Dealer says it is the O2 sensor.
I once rode in one as a livery vehicle and loved it, but it was too pricey for me. The camera in the back comes on when you are in reverse is helpful, but I still wish the car had fewer blind spots in the rear, both sides. Overall, great vehicle and I plan on keeping for a very long time. It is smooth, fast, reliable and efficient!. When you need that extra pick up to kick in quickly, it's more responsive than most cars I've driven. It is great to not burn gas sitting at a stoplight since the engine shuts off when it is not needed.
