Installation is quick and convenient- no scan tool necessary. The wire going from the fuse to the instrument cluster is red and yellow and the wire between the cluster and the alternator is lite green and red. I was driving along, and smelled what I felt was a smoking printed circuit board. Had to remove the keft kick panel and there was a yellow wire coming from the lower harness up toward the dash. Tighten the screws until fully driven, seated, not stripped.

You have to remove the cover on the steering column, and then the fascia, in front of the cluster. I think the fuse is in the engine compartment fuse box but your owners manual would tell you for sure. . The fuel data center panel did not smell good. . If there is not sufficient access to disengage the speedometer cable from the speedometer, it may be necessary to remove the speedometer cable at the transmission and pull cable through cowl, to allow room to reach the speedometer quick disconnect. The bulbs are accessible from the back of the cluster. Turned out to be a wire getting pinched btween the emergency brake lever and the release stop. Pull out the cluster and check the bulb. Restores gauges to proper operation and ensures accurate readings. The bulb replacement can not be done 'from under the dash'.
It should come on during the bulb check when you first turn the key on. Nov 19, 2010 -it could be a loose connection at the harness. You need to know if that circuit has power with the key switch on.
